Clear Clutter to find Clarity

As a young child, whenever I was sick my mum would clean my room and say, “you’ll feel better after I’ve tidied everything away.” And I always did; even to this day I always feel better when my house is clean.   It is well know that our surroundings affect us. Take a moment to acknowledge how you feel when you go to the beach, or for a walk in the hills. Recognise what emotions surface when you enter your office building or the dentist surgery.   How do you feel when you are in your own home? Content or […]

Life Patterns

Have you seen the movie Ground Hog Day? Why do you think it was so popular? One reason is because everyone could relate to it: the routine, the patterns, the habits. We all have repetitive behaviours in our lives, some more positive than others. An important question to ask yourself is: IS THIS AN EMPOWERING PATTERN? Are you experiencing any of these repetitive patterns? ▪ Loneliness ▪ Dominated by fear. ▪ Irritated all the time. ▪ Judgmental of others. ▪ Ongoing financial worries. ▪ Start and never finish tasks. ▪ Weight loss, weight regain, repeat. ▪ Attracting the wrong type […]

P O W E R

The word POWER is often in my thoughts, it is in my company name after all, 2Mpower.co – to empower is very close to my heart.  I love the word POWER, what it stands for, what it implies and how it can assist us in our every day lives.  Hence, the reason I built my business around it. The dictionary definition of the English word POWER comes from the Anglo-Norman French word poeir which has many meanings: The ability to do something or act in a particular way. I like this definition because it clearly shows that we have choice and can be in control.  We can choose to act or react in […]

3 steps forward

3 x 3 x 3

Take 3 minutes, 3 times a day, to do 3 things that make a difference? I was introduced to this idea a number of years ago. It immediately appealed to me. I could see that it required only a short period of time, it would help me create a routine and it would make a difference in everyday life, for both myself and those around me. I implemented this routine immediately and the results were instant. I felt a sense of peace as soon as I pressed the pause button in my mind; three minutes seemed like a long time […]

Tools for Change

When you want to change a personal situation or negative attitude or bad habit, making the decision to do so, is the first important step. However, just making the decision won’t bring about the change. Further action is required, starting in our sub-conscious mind and then eventually reality. From the decision, create a mental picture of what you want, this is your goal. This goal becomes an affirmation when you write it down and use it to programme your subconscious. An affirmation is a statement of fact or belief written in the positive, present tense as though the goal was […]

Move over SMART GOALS – TRAMS are coming through

Writing out my ‘smart’ goals for this month was such a chore.  Feeling fed up with the same old mechanical rote of ‘specific, measured, achievable, realistic and timed’ my creative mind started to play a game and turned ‘smart’ in to T.R.A.M.S. T.R.A.M.S goals mean more to me because they focus me ‘towards’ the positive and away from the negative.  I can already visualize my ‘rewards’.   I laugh when I act as if.  Keeping my goals meaningful and memorable allows me to engage my heart, not just my head.  Being aware of stability is important to me and as long […]

YOU ARE IN CHARGE! – SO TAKE CHARGE…life is all about choice…..

My teenage daughter was complaining about a list of things that went wrong for her last week and how other people ‘made’ her feel upset, or angry or frustrated. She was genuinely stunned when I told her that no one could ‘make’ her feel a certain way.   I explained that she chose her reaction to every single situation, whether that was an emotional response or physical action or negative self-talk.  We went on to discuss the importance of her being in charge of her life and the relevant consequences.  I could see her posture change to one of confidence as […]

words have power

It’s NOT what you say, It’s the WAY you say it!

For those of you who know me, you know that I love to talk, whether in person, via skype, delivering a presentation or training workshops.   I love to talk.  Like many, I feel frustrated when people don’t seem to get what I’m trying to say.  I hate to admit it, but it’s not their fault  – it’s mine! For many years, I have been fascinated by the work of Professor Albert Mehrabian.  His research provides the basis for the much-quoted statistic below. These findings highlight the effectiveness, (or lack) when using the spoken word to communicate feelings and attitudes: 7%  of meaning is in the words that are spoken. […]
